This is our house. We have been enjoying the fall colors all around us. In another week, they say, the leaves will all be off the trees. It has warmed up a little this week, but we got a little taste of "Real Cold" last week. I found a good second hand store here in town and have gotten some sweaters. We are not quite prepared for winter yet, but we are getting there. Right now we are just enjoying this beautiful Autumn.

Thanksgiving In Canada
The Canadian Thanksgiving was Monday. This was very strange for us. I asked someone what do they actually celebrate? We, as Americans, celebrate the Pilgrims and Plymouth Rock and all of that. I was told that it is more a celebration of harvest. It really isn't as big here as it is in the States, but they do close everything down and take the long weekend. We had a family group in, the last of our sponsored groups for the year. They all left early Monday afternoon, so we decided we needed to do something to commemorate our first official Holiday in Canada, so we decided to head for Niagara Falls. Ken and I were there when we were here in June, But Katie hadn't been there yet. It was a little rainy and very cold, but we jumped out to get a few photos.
Katie thought it would be neat to go to "New York" for Dinner, so we crossed over the border and found a little fish place, "Dug's Dive" in Buffalo. It turned out that it was the last night of the season, so our timing was good, and it was very good food! It was a nice evening, but took a while to get back across the border because, evidently, other Canadians had the same idea for Thanksgiving!

Life in Canada Begins!
Welcome to our Blog. It is hard to know where to begin. We kind of feel like we are still on vacation, or as they say, "Holiday", but our things have arrived and now the unpacking has begun. It was a bit overwhelming at first. So many boxes!! It is amazing that it all came out of our little house on Palomar Mountain. Before
Really, the kitchen is the only room that is in shape. We have been busy with camp and haven't had much time to spend on the house, but after this weekend, it will slow way down and we can finish the last little bit of painting and get things up on the walls.
I did have to get rid of the border around the top of the kitchen. I felt really bad about it because someone actually hand painted it, but it just had to go. If it were the late 80's or early 90's, I would have loved it, but that "country era" is gone. I don't really know what phase I am in now, by the looks of it, "Simply Red"!
Katie is enjoying school. The bus picks her up just across from our house and she rides the 20-25 minutes to school. She joined the cross country team the first week and has been challenged by that. She has had a meet every week and usually comes in some place in the middle of the group. We have been to a couple of her meets, but cross country is not really a good spectator sport. You see them take off and then you see them come in. It is fun to be there though.
